Dynamic QR codes
Change the destination without reprinting.
A dynamic code points at a short link you control. Repoint it whenever you like, count the scans, and leave the printed artwork exactly as it is.

Most people don’t need this.
If your code points somewhere permanent — your homepage, a booking system, a Google review link — a free static code does the job forever and cannot be switched off by anyone, including us.
Dynamic codes earn their cost in one situation: when reprinting would cost more than the subscription. If that is not you, use the free generator and keep your money.
When dynamic is the right call
| Situation | Verdict |
|---|---|
| 10,000 printed flyers for a seasonal campaign | Dynamic. Repointing beats reprinting. |
| Vehicle signage or a shopfront window decal | Dynamic. Replacing vinyl is expensive. |
| Product packaging already in production | Dynamic. The artwork is locked for months. |
| Measuring which placement actually works | Dynamic, one code per placement. |
| Café menu on a table card | Static. Keep the URL fixed and update the page. |
| Business card | Static. Reprinting cards is cheap anyway. |
| Google review link | Static. The destination never changes. |
How ours works
- Your code encodes qrgenerator.au/r/xxxxxxx — a short, unambiguous id with no easily confused characters.
- A scan hits our Australian edge and is forwarded to your current destination.
- The scan is counted after the redirect is sent, so counting never slows anyone down.
- We store a scan total and a last-scanned timestamp. We do not build profiles of the people scanning.
- Destinations are validated on save: only public http and https addresses are accepted.
The risk, stated plainly
Every dynamic QR code in existence depends on its provider staying online. If the redirect stops, the printed code becomes a dead end. This is true of every vendor in this market and it is the honest reason to prefer static wherever you reasonably can.
Our mitigation is simple: your destination list is exportable at any time, so you can move the redirect to a domain you own.
Pricing
In AUD. Final pricing is being set before launch — if you want to be told when it opens, email [email protected].
Static codes stay free regardless. That is not an introductory offer.

Dynamic QR code questions
What is a dynamic QR code?
A dynamic QR code encodes a short link that you control, rather than the final destination. When someone scans it, our server looks up where it should currently point and forwards them. Because the printed pattern never changes, you can redirect it any time.
What is the difference between static and dynamic QR codes?
A static code has the destination baked into the pattern — free, permanent, unchangeable and untrackable. A dynamic code points at a redirect you control — editable and countable, but it depends on that redirect continuing to exist.
Do dynamic QR codes expire?
They stop working if the redirect service stops. That is true of every provider, including us, which is why you should only choose dynamic when you genuinely need to edit or track. For a permanent link, a free static code is the safer choice.
Can I track how many people scanned my QR code?
Yes, with a dynamic code. Each scan is counted as it passes through the redirect. We record a total and the time of the most recent scan — deliberately not personal details about who scanned it.
Can I change where a QR code points after printing it?
Only with a dynamic code. That is its entire purpose. A static code's destination is part of the printed pattern and cannot be altered.
Is a dynamic QR code worth paying for?
It is worth it when a reprint would cost more than the subscription — large print runs, vehicle signage, packaging, permanent installations. For a café menu or a business card, a free static code pointing at a fixed URL does the same job for nothing.
